We can offer you an exceptional career journey. Expect intellectually engaging, varied work, and an opportunity to be close to the action.
We work with board level clients as well as strategy, marketing and innovation teams. Client interactions are frequent and, as a small firm, you’ll be gaining exposure to some truly interesting people and brands from day one.
You will get to know your new colleagues quickly and find them generous with their time and experience; we are not big on hierarchy at Cognosis and everyone’s contribution is valued.
What to expect
From week one, you will join one of our project teams and have the opportunity to start making a contribution to our client work. You will be assigned a mentor and take part in our comprehensive induction programme, which runs alongside practical work experience to provide you with the skills and knowledge you need to succeed.
You will typically be working across 2 or 3 projects at any one time, gaining exposure to a range of clients, industries and types of projects throughout your career at Cognosis.
No two projects are the same, but your role will typically involve owning analysis on a project, with direction from your Engagement Manager, who will look to you to draw insights from both qualitative and quantitative inputs to contribute to the project deliverable. You might be reviewing and manipulating raw data, or carrying out desk research and reviewing research documents or trend reports. You’ll be the lead for creating quality slides and clear, logical Excel dashboards – your work will land in the client’s hands. You’ll also have plenty of exposure to clients – participating in meetings, preparing for workshops and supporting on stakeholder interviews.
You might also be asked to contribute to proposals being developed by the team, input into internal projects and, once established in post, take a role in training and / or buddying our interns.
We are currently working on a “remote first” basis, and with a planned full re-opening of our office in August. We value a balance between time with the client, time with the team and personal flexibility. On return to the office we anticipate the team will be required to spend roughly half their time office-based or on client visits, with the option to work from home for the remainder, if they choose.
We visit clients at key points in a project but do not base our project teams out of client sites. As such, our travel requirements are not excessive and travel is generally for short periods.
Who we are looking for
We are seeking exceptional candidates with experience in a consulting role with a primary focus on growth / commercial strategy projects, ideally working with consumer-facing businesses.
You should be comfortable working with commercial, market or competitor data – preparing, performing and summarizing analysis across both quantitative and qualitative data sources. You should have experience of developing ‘client ready’ documents in Excel and PowerPoint, and be ready to participate in meetings and interviews with senior stakeholders.
A highly organised individual, you will be resourceful, flexible and unfazed by tight deadlines. You’ll have the ability to multi-task and manage your own time effectively, be comfortable working with ambiguity, and have a collaborative working style.
Finally, you will be passionate about commercial growth strategy, driven by a natural curiosity and a passion for problem solving.
